History
Our church has been on a journey. We meet in an historic building – the St Saviour’s church building – which was built in 1885 by A and C Blackett and remains one of the few unspoilt, imposing buildings left in Redfern.
In many ways, we are an old church congregation – there have been Christians meeting in the St Saviour’s building for over 100 years. But in other ways, we are a new church. We’re praying for Christian revival in South Sydney, and we've planted ourselves anew in Redfern as a base to reach out to the people in our area and tell them about Jesus.
To reflect this revival, in 2010 we changed our name to one1seven church. one1seven church was conceived by a small group of passionate evangelical Christians who want to see the shadow-lands of South Sydney won for Christ.
