About Jesus

Jesus says - “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:17).

That’s a pretty impressive curriculum vitae by any standards because the man Jesus Christ, who died on a cross in first century Jerusalem and rose to life again three days later is calling himself God in the fullest sense of the word. Jesus is the Living One! He is the First and the Last and He is the eternal judge who holds the keys to death and Hades.

So it is right and proper for everyone to worship Jesus, obey Jesus and love Jesus because he is the eternal Son of God who came to earth and took on flesh for us men and our salvation. Jesus is fully God in the same sense that God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are fully God worthy of all glory, honor and praise.

But that is a scary thought when you remember how humanity rejected, mocked and nailed Jesus to a cross. Surely pay-back must be coming for people who reject, mock and try to kill God. Sadly, that is what many people believe and so they spend their whole life trying to avoid God. But Jesus says, “Do not be afraid! I was dead and behold I am alive.” Although human beings have rejected God, disobeyed God and tried to eradicate God from their lives – Jesus wants us to know that we do not need to be afraid because God is merciful, gracious and forgiving. Even as Jesus, died on the cross, he prayed Father forgive them for they know not what they do (Lk.23:34). Jesus is God in the fullest sense of the word, but we do not need to be afraid of Him because He is merciful, gracious and offers forgiveness to everyone believes. The good news of Christianity, which has the power to take away all fear is called the gospel. It is all about Jesus dying for your sins and and resurrection and it has the power to bring you into a deep, meaningful and intimate relationship with the Living One

Jesus is God in the fullest sense of the word. But instead of being afraid of Him. Rather we trust Him, love Him, worship Him, obey Him and follow Him because He is our Saviour and Lord.  experience life that really is life in Him. So to help you find and experience the life in Jesus that we are talking about we have attached the following links to sermons and posts that you may find helpful.

The gospel

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel – not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. (1 Corinthians 1:17)

The word gospel simply means good news. But many people fail to grasp the good news of Christianity because it is found in the horrendous cross of Christ. However, if you think about the 88 people who are currently waiting on Australia’s organ transplant list for new hearts, you’ll realise that sometimes death has the power to bring life . Indeed, for these 88 Australians death is the necessary precursor to abundant life and you can imagine the overwhelming sense of relief these people experience when they hear the good news – “we have found you a heart.”

Well the Christian good news is that because Jesus died on the cross you can now have his righteousness. Although we are all sinners who fall short of God righteous standards and deserve His judgment, God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth and lived the perfect life for us. Jesus never sinned. He never blasphemed. He always pleased God. So he was entitled to eternal life in God’s presence forever. But in his great love for us – Jesus exchanged his life for our lives – so that he might bear our sins and we might receive his righteousness. The Bible says “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom.6:23).

Just as life is the gift of those who receive new hearts, so eternal life is the gift of those who receive Jesus’ righteousness. Eternal life is not something you earn by going to church, or being baptized or doing religious stuff. But the good news of Christianity is that you can have Jesus’ righteousness, (making you fit for heaven) simply by believing in him as your Saviour and Lord. That is why Jesus says – “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever!” (Rev.1:17). As Christians, clothed in the righteousness of Jesus we no longer fear death because we have been given eternal life and we now look forward to meeting God face to faceolo. Indeed, we love God with all our heart and mind and strength because He paid the ultimate sacrifice to give us the righteousness that equates to life.
